The maritime industry is one of the oldest in the United States, likewise the laws governing shipping, fishing, trade, crewmen and the like are an ancient, complex labyrinth of information. O’Bryan Baun Karamanian have been practicing maritime law for most of our professional lives and represent maritime works from coast to coast.
To help out law students with an interest in maritime law reach their goals, O’Bryan Baun Karamanian has created the 2016 O’Bryan Baun Karamanian Law Scholarship. One winner will be awarded a $1,000 scholarship and two runner-up’s will be selected. 1st runner-up will be awarded $500 and 2nd runner-up will be awarded $500.
The 2016 O’Bryan Baun Karamanian Law Scholarship is open to law students that are currently enrolled in an accredited college or university within the U.S. All applicants must write an essay in 1,000 words or less answering the following question listed below.

Essay Question:
In your own words, what do you feel are some of the toughest challenges seamen face in the shipping industry?
Eligibility:
- Applicants must be a current student at an accredited college or university within the U.S.
- Applicants must be studying a legal-related major
- Applicants must have a minimum 2.8 GPA
- Applicants must submit a copy of their transcript

The deadline for the 2016 Baun Karamanian Law Scholarship is July 1, 2016. Winners will be notified on August 1, 2016.
